Sfera Wines are a celebration of the best of vintage each year. Crafted from the small round berries so loved around the world. Created by a circle of friends. Best enjoyed with yours. The wine arm of Wirrega Vineyard; growers of premium fruit in South Australia's picturesque Limestone Coast wine region.

Today, Sfera's Circle of Friends are wholeheartedly committed to using premium quality grapes from carefully selected parcels of fruit to perfect the classic wines, along with creating new wines crafted from alternative varieties to meet the modern global wine market.

With the addition of Simon and Karina Spier, and the multi award-winning winemaker, Shane Harris, our team of friends also consists of Geoff Hardy, Roger Oakeshott, Scott Collett, Grant Tilbrook, John Younger and Lynette Zuccoli

Our History : Circle of Friends

Back in 1993 Geoff Hardy (5th generation decendant of the renowned Hardy Wine family dynasty), having noticed the outstanding quality of the grapes produced in the area, brought together a group of wine loving friends to purchase the 430 acre property near Mundulla in South Australia's picturesque Limestone Coast wine region. The founding circle of friends included Scott Collett, Rocco Melino, Roger Oakeshott, Grant Tilbrook, John Younger and Guido Zuccoli.

Over the next three years, and with the primary aim of growing premium quality fruit, the vineyard was planted out mainly with International varieties suited to the site. Since then an eclectic mix of emerging varieties have been added.

Wirrega Vineyards

For the past 22 years Wirrega Vineyards has provided top quality fruit for some of Australia’s most iconic wine brands. With the launch of the Sfera Wines label in 2013, the time has now come for Wirrega to show what it can do!

‘Wirrega’ was the name of an Aboriginal clan comprising 8 or so groups of the Jackegilbrab tribe. They inhabited the district, living sustainably on the bountiful land that grows huge gum trees. Earlier farmers cleared most of these trees, but at Wirrega Vineyards we left remaining trees intact and planted our vines around them. We also planted many native trees along the water courses and billabongs amongst the current vineyard. Most of the best Australian vineyard regions grow massive river red gums, our symbol of sustainable balance, above and below the ground.
